WINNING

WHEN IT REALLY COUNTS

QUICK EASY STRATEGIES FOR SUCCES IN ANY SPEAKING SITUATION

Style-Don’t imitate other speakers, develop your own style and just be yourself and remember that you are what you experience.

Using your face-Always speak with an open face-eyebrows raised and eyes open, looking directly at your audience. Most importantly don’t forget to smile.

Using gestures-Use your hands and body to make appropriate gestures to embrace your audience.

Using your voice-When speaking to a audience always gesture your voice so that it will register warmth, willingness to cooperate and honesty. And then they’ll be more interested in what you have to say.

Using your mind/ the dos and don’tsDon’t preach, orate, teach, or deliver a speech, a sermon, a lecture, or a lesson. Rather converse, chat, talk, confide in your audience, tell an interesting story, and treat them exactly as you would a single audience.

Confidence-By learning the proper breathing techniques you will find that you are more relaxed in stressful situations and thus will boost your confidence.

Signals-While speaking to an audience always makes sure that you send the right signals. In informal speaking situations you should sit up straight, keep your spine away from the back of the chair and don’t be afraid to gesture.

Directness and CourtesyAlways make eye contact and don’t talk to your slides, down to your notes, or talk up to the heavens. Be yourself, talk with an open face, use appropriate gestures and you will always come across as a winner.

Confrontation-When handling confrontation always pause (think before you speak), make eye contact (look at your adversary), be positive in your reply, give valuable information and don’t go on to long.

Testimony-If you don’t know the answer to a question or if you don’t understand the question just say so.

Job interview-You must make a good first impression and gain control of yourself by breathing and relaxation exercises. Use your face, voice and your body to gain control over the situation rather than let it gain control over you.

Meetings-Meetings can be used as communication; there are basically five types of meetings, most of which has overlapping functions and purposes.

·        Information meetings

·        Decision-Making Meetings

·        Instruction Meetings

·        Motivation Meetings

·        Social Meetings

Teaching-A teacher can be a communicator as well, therefore is speaking not merely a teaching process, but a learning process as well.

Negotiating- Start every negotiation with a positive start. An ideal negotiation is when both sides take turns expressing their ideas and exchanging information.

Sales-A good salesman must have Intelligence, Integrity and Initiative. The client should see a warm, sincere, open, enthusiastic and trustworthy person.

When speaking at a meeting, interviewing for a job, addressing a tired audience at a conference or trying to close a sale. Just remember that you can turn make-or-break career situations into Victories!
