TWELVE POINTS ON ATTITUDE
- It is your attitude at the beginning of a
task more than anything else that will determine your success or failure.
- It is your attitude towards life which will
determine lifes attitude towards you. Despite many peoples belief to the
contrary, life plays no favourites.
- You control your attitude. If you are
negative it is because you have decided to be negative not because of other people or
circumstances.
- Act as if you have a good attitude. Remember
actions trigger feelings just as feelings trigger actions.
- Before a person can achieve the kind of
results he wants he must first become that person. He must then think, walk, talk, act and
conduct himself in all of his affairs, as would the person he wishes to become.
- Treat everybody as the most important person
in the world.
- Attitudes are based on assumptions. In order
to change attitudes one must first change ones assumptions.
- Develop the attitudes that there are more
reasons why you should succeed than reasons why you should fail.
- When you are faced with a problem, adopt the
attitude that you can and will solve it.
- We become what we think about. Control your
thoughts and you will become your life.
- Radiate the attitude of confidence, of well
being, of a person who knows where he is going. You will then find good things happening
to you right away.
- In order to develop a good attitude, take
charge first thing in the morning. Do say "Good morning, Lord" or "Good
Lord, morning?".
1. ATTITUDES CAN DETERMINE SUCCESS
Successful people are POSITIVE people who
EXPECT to SUCCEED rather than to fail, and they DO.
They set their goals and achievement levels
high.
Good/Bad attitudes assure good/bad results.
They way we think shows in the way we act.
Believe in yourself and your ability a
successful person believes that he is worthy, capable and this attitude gets him ahead.
Strengthen this belief in yourself by:
- Thinking success, not failure.
- Reminding yourself regularly that you are
better than you think you are.
- Think BIG; Aim at small goals and you will
achieve small success, think big goals and win big success.
- Eliminate the word "impossible"
from your thinking and speaking vocabulary.
- Be enthusiastic about life. Enthusiasm brings
results.
REMEMBER: For the right mental attitude :
- Believe in your product.
- Have confidence in your own ability.
- Have the desire to become skilled in selling.
- Have the right attitude towards other people,
enjoy helping people, be intensely interested in understanding people, believe all people
have at least some good in them.
2. ATTITUDES
CAN BE CHANGED
Attitudes are merely habits of thought,
therefore attitudes can be changed. Never be afraid of change. Rather make a habit of
change and use it to your advantage.
You are what you think you are: If you think
of yourself as unsuccessful, you will be just that. Change the way you think about
yourself. You are always worth more than you think you are. Accept that.
Be receptive to new ideas do not
become trapped by convention. The Wright Brothers believed that it was possible to build a
flying machine while everybody else laughed at the idea. The rest is history.
3. ACT YOUR ATTITUDE
Attitudes are very visible: how we think
shows in the way we act. We can see them, hear them:
- The unenthusiastic salesman tells you without
words that he doesnt like his job, doesnt think hell make the sale.
- By the sound of her voice the secretary tells
you "I like you, I like my job, I think you are important."
Successful people take action, get things
done, start with ideas and follow through. Unsuccessful people often have the ideas but
are unable to start. They spend their time postponing, or finding reasons why they should
not or could not do it.
Unsuccessful people have a problem called
FEAR. Too many good ideas are lost because of fear. The only way to cure fear is through
action. Remember the speech you had to make and how the jitters disappeared as soon as you
got started.
To be successful, act successful. People
judge your attitude by your appearance and everyday acts. E.g. your handshake, your voice,
the way you walk, the way you dress.
4. ATTITUDES THAT WORK
Develop attitudes that can make things happen
for you:
The attitude of BEING ENTHUSIASTIC: By being
enthusiastic, people respond enthusiastically, and results come in proportion to
enthusiasm applied.
5. SELF-CONFIDENCE
Without self-confidence you cannot have the
attitude needed for success. Your self-image controls your self-confidence, which in turn
controls your success in life. Change your attitude to that of a winner.

Think of the alternative, and what you will
do in such a case. Determine that you are going to make a sale of some kind regardless.
DETERMINE WHAT YOU WANT TO BE
If you expect to be a success in business,
which calls for contact for your fellow men, you must determine to stay on "the plus
side".
BE POSITIVE IN YOUR SALES STORIES, AND IN
EVERYTHING ELSE IN WHICH YOU BELIEVE
If you believe something, speak with
conviction and certainty. People like a person who speaks with conviction.

Protect yourself from your weaknesses as well
as you can, but dont worry about them. Put a plan in place to overcome your
weakness. Accentuate your strengths and they will win for you.
